Fédération Habitat et Humanisme, recognized to be of community benefit in 2007, groups 48 nonprofits in 62 districts and enjoys an excellent reputation. The vocation of the federation, and hence of the 48 nonprofits, is the integration of publics in difficulty, through housing. To do this, operations are set up in favor of housing for disadvantaged people and the development of social exchanges and social counseling of the residents, to promote their integration in their environment and surroundings. For example, the Eure branch succeeded in rehousing 214 households between May 2002 and the end of 2009.
Studio apartments equipped for independent living
Today, Habitat Humanisme de l'Eure wants to build a halfway house for 20 people in the commune of Vernon, by refurbishing and outfitting an old building. A set of equipped studio flats are planned, allowing independent living and also collective spaces. A hostess will also be present during the week all day long to counsel the "tenants" effectively. This home, in accordance with the primary vocation of Habitat Humanisme, is designed to accommodate people lacking resources, living in isolation or totally sidelined, including, for example, former street-dwellers who are complete social dropouts and experience tremendous difficulty in adapting to an individual dwelling. A social project (allocation of dwellings, running the structure, managing the project) involving the residents will also be set up in association with the Departmental Directorate of Social Cohesion (DDCS).
The Foundation is participating in the rehabilitation and outfitting of the building.
